This year I also had the privilege of being the photographer for the 2019 Garden City Fiesta and the Miss Garden City Fiesta Pageant. This year marks the 93rd anniversary of the Fiesta “Abrazando La Cultura” which means Embracing Culture. It is also a scholarship funding mechanism for students wishing to attend Garden City Community College.
The 2019 Miss Garden City Fiesta Pageant was held on September 13, 2019 in the auditorium at Garden City Community College. Three young ladies had to speak on their beliefs and what they would do if they won the pageant, they had to perform something within their prospected profession, and they had to do an evening gown presentation and judges based their scores upon these factors. Judges were members and business owners of the community who come together for the better good of the Hispanic community that we embrace here.
The 2019 Garden City Fiesta was held on September 14, 2019 with a kick-off parade down Main Street with all participants celebrating their Mexican heritage. The parade ended at Steven’s Park where various Hispanic foods were served, as well as a Mariachi Band and dancing was performed. This is a well attended event by our community as outreach to blend our cultures and enjoy the heritage our Hispanic friends have brought to our community. Viva Mexico!
