Tiffany and her husband, Michael are local business owners here in southwest Kansas. Tiffany runs a successful gym and exercise facility here in town and Michael owns a very successful construction company. I have known Michael since moving here to western Kansas in dealing with certain aspects of my full-time job inspecting in the commercial construction field. Tiffany and Michael approached me at the studio early on in Tiffany’s pregnancy to inquire about capturing her and the family in a maternity/family photo session. I was more than happy to oblige them.
Tiffany wanted to do the session close to sunset. During the summer months here in western Kansas, the sun sets much later in the evening due to the distance we are on the western side of the Central Time Zone. The sun’s angle can be brutal and the days can be hot and dry, but the images we capture were nothing short of outstanding. We began with images at Finnup Park which is close to our local zoo. This allowed for the kids to do their own thing and be candid with us along with Mom and Dad. We then transitioned to a wheat field north of town. The wheat fields were ready for harvest and we had opportunities to use these as a backdrop to the setting sun.
Their children were incorporated into the session and their personalities shined. I love to capture kids in their own element, letting them be kids. You would be surprised at what you capture behind the lens when the little ones just do their own thing. Barb and I wish them the very best with their soon to be bundle of joy and welcome addition to their family.
